FITC Amsterdam Report

FITC Amsterdam was a blast. This year I wrote a report for Adobe User Group Netherlands. Below is a summary, you can read the entire report (in dutch) here

TRON graphics design – by GMUNK
.
This session was all about the creative process behind the CGI effects in TRON. While studios like Pixar develop their own software and have entire farms rendering for months and months, GMUNK used the open-source tool Processing to build their tools.

A bit hard to see, but this slide shows the custom tool that was built in Processing, and is able to generate live dynamic visuals on the spot.
FITC had lots of different subjects this year, one of them was using Peer-to-Peer connections in your Flash application. P2P is a way to make connections between applications in a network, without the need for a central server. This technology is used in BitTorrent clients, but it can also be used to stream video (which will reduce your bandwidth usage dramatically) or in games.

Tom Krca explains Flash P2P. Read more about using P2P in your own projects on Tom’s blog.
